3 gigs in 8 days! Whoop! Whoop! …and indeed Whoop! This Sunday April 23rd sees me and the resilient saxophonist Clive Ashley playing at The Ropemakers, Bridport at 4pm. Wednesday April 26th I venture forth into the great unknown that is Surrey to do a solo support gig for my old mucker Andy Davis’ trio DLM at St John’s Church, Farncombe (I hit the stage around the 7.45 mark) Then 3pm Sunday April 30th in Brewery Square Dorchester I shall be a-strummin’ and a-hollerin’ under a gazebo as part of their Street Food Market. Can international success be far away?
We will be congregating tonight chez Cleavers to pay close attention to the results of our recording session at Vale Studios, Pershore, England and plan our strategy toward completion. Chris D’Adda at Vale proved to be an awesome engineer and host and the owner of a mighty fine recording studio to boot. A very productive and enjoyable time (if you exclude the dreaded colds that afflicted most of us) was had by MSB and I think Chris as well. The meat and veg of 8 new songs down in three and one half days! Only the gravy and accoutrements of choice to go.
It is with an odious amount of smugness and self-satisfaction that I announce that the next MSB album ‘The Champ’ is to be released on Angel Air records on Sept 16th 2016. I share this moment of gargantuan glory with: Chris Cleaver; Dan Wheeler; Clive Ashley; Tom Hughes & Ian Olliver. This is merely the start of a vomit inducing campaign of self-promotion. You have been warned.
As Spring approaches so does another MSB album.
Hello again. We have posted a new video. Another song from our set last December at The Fiddlers in Bristol, England. I know we already have a version of Absobloodylutely posted but, another day produces a different feel, besides which Clive plays another blinding sax solo. We hope you enjoy it.
We have not been idle despite our lack of gigs. Our time has been well spent in the studio working on the follow up to ‘Absobloodylutely’. The new album promises to be a corker featuring nine new songs (and maybe a cover or two) showcasing the prodigious talents of my friends and colleagues in the band. We’ll keep you posted as to a release date and other snippets of news MSB related.
In the meantime I wish you well,
You can keep up with the Mutter Slater Band on social media to find out where we are playing and what we are up to.Click on the links above to follow us.
With a new year comes the new Mutter Slater web site where all things pertinent and impertinent to the man and his music are exposed. The close of 2015 saw MSB supporting Stackridge at both Eype Arts Centre, Dorset and The Fiddlers, Bristol. Our set at the latter was recorded both visually and aurally so one of our first hopes for this year is to present you with a quality video of one or three songs from that set. Watch this space as they say. A little later we envisage the completion of our next album which is already well under way. More will be revealed as studio time elapses. Meanwhile peruse the site and marvel at its wonders.
Pip! Pip! Mutter.
